An Introduction to Us

Hello, and welcome to our blog!  We are so happy you have decided to visit!  We are a couple who really enjoy traveling and have traveled throughout the continental United States throughout the years.  We have visited many areas of the country numerous times.  We have taken thousands of photographs and will be sharing those and some of our favorite shops, eateries, and places to visit in each of those areas.  We enjoy hiking, taking photographs and discovering new things each time we hit the road.  We began traveling when we got married and throughout the years have traveled by car, pulling a pop up trailer, in a twenty year old motor home which was a class A motorhome, a class C motorhome, a new class A motorhome and now travel in a class B motorhome which we just purchased a year ago.  In some posts we will compare our travels in the various motorhomes we have owned and give you the pros and cons of each one, as well as our lists of supplies for each of the travel venues.

We love to garden as well.  We both grew up in families that gardened and it has been a way of life for us over the years.  There have been some years that we did not raise a garden during the seasons of our lives which were extremely busy and did not allow time for it.  We are now setting up a smaller garden, at least for us.  We are adding raised beds and trying to build them from items we have around the homestead.  I hope to add a few chickens, a couple of bee gums and my eventual dream is to add a couple of goats.  We will see how that goes!  We will be moving a high tunnel onto our property in the spring.  There is the possibility of building a small green house.  Now, along with the vegetable garden, we will be adding a flower garden.  Flowers are so important to me.  Nothing makes me as happy as being surrounded by flowers of every shape and kind.  So you can follow along as we develop our little homestead/garden/farmette. We are not exactly what to call it. Our garden is called “Growing In Grace Garden”.

We in essence, are tightening our belts and using a smaller portion of our land to develop our homestead.  There are only the two of us and our small dog, Pepper.  So, we want to make our homestead manageable.  We hope to have a few fruit trees, as well as strawberries, blackberries and raspberries.

Then, there is the house.  We decided to downsize, so we gave our family home to our son and his wife.  We purchased a new modular home and had it moved in.  We will post a short video of the initial setting up of the home.  It was an awesome sight to watch as the huge crane lifted it into place!  We have a much smaller home and lot now. We have lived here for four years, but are just now setting about really making it our own.  We are repainting the house, setting up the house so it works better for us and actually doing slight remodeling to make it a better fit for us.  We are doing all the work ourselves.  Also, our flower beds are beginning to take shape.  So, you can watch as we add color and texture without through our small flowerbeds and transform the inside from a house to a home.

I am sure we will also be talking about our family, which came together out of love, and adoption.  We are an unusual mixture of people who became family both by birth and by choice.  We have family both far and near.  But they are all loved to the depths of our being,  We will talk at times about relationships and the best ways to sustain these relationships, whether it be with your spouse, your children, (whether they be by birth or adoption), your grandchildren or your great grandchildren, even your grand dogs! Aren’t we such a wonderful conglomeration in our families these days?  Now, I want to insert here that we are not setting ourselves up as examples or role models. We have made as many mistakes in our family and in our relationships as the next person, probably more.  But we will share what we have learned by making those mistakes and from making some good, positive choices.  We  also both have counseling degrees and have worked in this area for a part of our career.

Last, we will share what we have come to believe about life, life choices and our value system.  This is a part of life that has made us who we are.  It has been a life long search and continues to be.  We strive to be accepting people, who maintain our believes while being open to allow each person to be themselves. We think it is vitally important to be allowed to be yourself.  Each person is an individual and as such they are given a free will.  What they do with that free will is up to them.  I can disagree with you, but still be your friend.  I hope you can do the same.  We will not criticize your choices, after all, they are yours to make and we ask for the same allowance.  Sometimes, as we have found out, our choices bring consequences that we would not have chosen, and at others, they bring wonderful consequences that we would not have believed. Then sometimes the consequences are mixed.  Our choices have brought both wonderful things into our lives and some that come with problems attached.  Lets just agree to live our lives as best as possible without hurting others and with love in our hearts.

So, stay tuned.  Let’s go for a drive….

Hello and welcome to our blog! We are so excited to share our adventures with our friends and family! We love to travel and can’t wait to get back on the road and do some exploring. We like to garden and are constantly on the watch for new seeds and plants. We mostly focus on heirlooms. There is nothing like a tomato or cucumber fresh from the garden. We babysit during the week now and absolutely love the opportunity to watch him grow and learn. We are usually involved in some sort of house related project so we may put pictures of them on here. I love to decorate, but I like to use hand made items or items we have either thrifted or found in antique shops. Above all, we are committed Christian folk who want to live our lives in the best way possible to reflect the love and joy of Jesus Christ.
